Four OT's!!!!!

The Bengals scored first (Lilly Cohen) to take a 1-0 lead over Durham Academy on a hot Wednesday evening. The two teams battled from end to end and DA finally tied it up, scoring off a corner midway through the second half. Neither team could find the goal again in regulation and the teams headed into OT--2-ten minute 7v7 sudden victory periods. Both teams held their ground and the Bengal defense came up big, defending 2 corners in OT. After 2 scoreless periods the teams went to penalty strokes to determine the winner. DA won the coin toss and decided to stroke first and their stroker nailed the goal. That goal was matched by Caroline Strong as were the next two goals by Andie MacDonald and Elizabeth Buxton. The final two strokers from each team were stopped by the goalies and the third OT had the teams tied again at 4-4. In the final OT, 5 strokers sudden victory, the goalies from both teams stepped up and blocked the first two strokers. GDS missed their third try and DA found the net defeating the Bengals 5-4.
It was a great game from end-to-end and the Bengals are ready to face Charlotte Latin at home this evening at 6:30.

A Great Weekend in DC!

It was a beautiful day for the game and after giving up an early first half goal, the Bengals came out strong in the second half. Although the team dominated the game statistically, they could not put the ball in the net and dropped the consolation final to the Institute of Notre Dame 1-0. The team had a great weekend and the games provided solid competition in prep for our tough schedule this week. We host DA on Wednesday at 5:30 and Charlotte Latin on Friday at 6:30.

Thanks to our parent fans who made the trip and to Katie C. and Demetra S. for coming to support the team.

DC trip

After a long van ride, the bengals rolled into DC about 12:30 AM on Thursday evening. Today (Friday) we were off to the Mall where we visited the Air and Space Museum and the National Gallery of Art. It is off to practice on the turf tonight, dinner at an Italian restaurant and back to the hotel to rest-up for tomorrow's games.
